Hi fellow bookworms!
I know I’ve been quiet lately… note quite intentional, but I’ve just been too exhausted to put my thoughts into words. The reasons have all been positive, but still, emotions are super hard.
1.) I got a promotion/new job!
This has honestly been the most mentally/emotionally stressful thing because interviews are incredibly difficult. Why can’t they just ask what your favorite book is and why? I could *literally* drone on and on about that for hours (even though I’m pretty sure I couldn’t narrow it down to 1 book…but I digress).
2.) School is over for the semester (and I just applied for graduation *gasp*)
In case you didn’t know, I’m currently pursuing my MBA part-time, online through UNC-Pembroke. When they said you should devote 20 hours a week per class… it turns out they weren’t lying. I feel like the vast majority of my life is spent studying or doing homework. Pair that with working full time (40 hours/week) and it’s just draining. Fortunately, this girl finished her finals on Monday, homework on Tuesday, and I’m ready to live my best life please!
3.) I’m vacation bound!
Okay, it’s not a normal vacation – if you know me IRL or follow me, you know my hubs is a professional baseball player, so I’m packing my bags and going to AZ for a week to watch him at spring training. I have a 5+ hour flight there and back, as well as many hours of alone time in the desert while he’s practicing, so I’m about to get caught up on my TBR list like nobodies business. What am I going to read?
Only Ever Her by Marybeth Mayhew Whalen
This is first on my list – solely because of how I obsessed over When We Were Worthy. If Only Ever Her is anything like WWWW, it will combine suspense, drama, romance, and basically every other emotion that I cold possibly experience.
The Lost Man by Jane Harper
This has been one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2019 because I absolutely ADORE Jane Harper. This was published Feb 5, 2019, so if you’re currently reading it, DM me on Instagram so we can chat!
Miracle Creek by Angie Kim
You’ll probably recognize this title from 19 Books We Can’t Wait to Read in 2019… my enthusiasm hasn’t decreased whatsoever for this book! To be honest, some of my favorite bookworms have been singing its praises, which actually bumped it up on my TBR.
The Escape Room by Megan Goldin
I can’t be the only one that automatically envisions the worst case in every scenario… especially when it comes to the latest fad of escape rooms, marketed as a situation that encourages team cooperation and bonding in seemingly impossible circumstances. Let’s be honest, this is just asking for a murder. Am I the only one that thinks this? Most definitely not.
Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chen
I’m usually not a cozy mystery person, but Read or Dead basically forced me to download this eBook. It sounds like a fun, almost palate cleansing mystery, and I can’t wait to read it. Also, I’m really hoping someone brings me lo mein, dumplings, or some other Asian food while I’m reading it.
They Called Me Wyatt by Natasha Tynes
A murder that relies on (basically) reincarnation/possession to solve the crime? Sign me up. I’m so excited to see if Siwar gets the justice that she deserves – or if it drives Wyatt crazy in the process.
