Justified Temptation by Erin Lockwood – Book Review

How long could you stay faithful?

Naomi Devereaux is the most devoted married woman in the world. Or so she thought until she is stranded on an island with the gray-eyed, masculine Guy Harrington. She loves her husband, her best friend since college, even when she gives up hope of ever seeing him again. What she’s left with are her survival instincts and her undeniable physical attraction to Guy, who provokes a sexual awakening she’s never experienced.

Even the most faithful women have a breaking point.

I recently finished reading Lockwood’s All of the Rogers, such a  challenging heart wrenching novel, and wondered if the author could tackle a different genre, one more relevant to my age (if you have read almost any of my reviews, you know I struggle with connecting to high school aged protagonists. Well, after binge reading this in a matter of hours (I may or may not have been hiding at a baseball field so I could read and not be bothered by sports because I just had to finish it!), I can safely say that Erin Lockwood most definitely is not a one trick pony. I laughed, I teared up, and I fell in love with her characters once again.

I’ll be totally honest, at the start of the book, I just knew that the relationship was going to be forced. I wasn’t feeling the chemistry and it just seemed too far fetched. Boy, was I wrong. I felt the heat continuing to build, and I was absolutely living for it.

In addition, I truly thought this book was just going to be pure smut. Yes, it definitely had that element, but I also found it to be a story of self-discovery and finding the real you.

My negatives: 1.) I know I’m reading fiction so it doesn’t ACTUALLY have to take place…but some of the story just seemed too implausible. Note to the reader: pour a glass of vino. This makes this negative practically evaporate. 2) I just hate the name Guy. Give me Jaxon, James, Brennan, ANYTHING.

If you’re looking for a steamy, quick beach read, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hands on a copy of this book. Thank you so much to the author and Word Smith Publicity for providing me with a review copy. It’s my pleasure to always share my honest thoughts and opinions!

About the author:

Erin Lockwood grew up in Castro Valley, California and attended the University of Oregon, where she graduated in 2003 with a degree in journalism. From there she moved to Denver and spent the next seven years searching for the love of her life and building the family of her dreams.

It wasn’t long until, with children starting preschool and more time on her hands, Erin refocused on her career, beginning with a successful entry into the world of residential real estate as a Realtor. Free time was spent reading book after book (and binge-watching the subsequent films) in the New Adult genre. Feeling hopelessly in love with her husband, she wrote him a short story leading up to their fifth wedding anniversary. That’s when she discovered her tireless passion to share her experience of falling in love through fictional characters. That story evolved into the first novel in the Angles trilogy.

Erin still lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, Phil, and their three children.
