Confession: I’m fairly new to the MFM fam… within my first 6 months of becoming fully immersed in the podcast. Even so, Karen and Georgia have become (cheesily enough) like close friends that I can’t wait to spend time with twice a week (for the regular and minisode). Basically, they’ve showed me that my love of the macabre and weird is not only okay, but a pretty common way to process the horror that’s in the world. YAY I’M (sort of) NORMAL!
I had so much more of an emotional experience to reading this than I originally anticipated. Honestly, it felt like such a deeply personal therapy session for me. From encouraging me to be more kind to myself (I am a sweet baby angel, after all), making me feel alright for not having my life completely sorted out at this stage (I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up), and for feeling more comfortable about cutting people out of my life if they aren’t contributing to my overall well being, this book genuinely spoke to me. While I will say I wish there had been more true crime incorporated into the book (if you’re looking for true crime, pick up I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, TBH) just because that’s what I associate with these lovely ladies, I legitimately think this was exactly what I needed at this time.
We barely get any time on this planet. Do not spend it pleasing other people. F*** politeness. Live life exactly how you want to live it so you can love the life you make for yourself.
