Happy Top Ten Tuesday, everyone! Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is “Favorite Book Quotes”, so we’re sharing the ones that continue to give us *all the feels*. How many of these are on your top ten list?
1.) “It stops here. With me and you. It ends with us.”
-Colleen Hoover, It Ends with Us
2.) “This is a medical issue, but mostly it’s a cultural issue. It’s a social issue and an emotional issue and a family dynamic issue and a community issue. Maybe we need to medically intervene so Poppy doesn’t grow a beard. Or maybe the world needs to learn to love a person with a beard who goes by ‘she’ and wears a skirt.”
-Laurie Frankel, This is How It Always Is
3.) “If the burden is too much and stays too long, even love bends, cracks, comes close to breaking and sometimes does break. But when it’s in a thousand pieces around your feet, that doesn’t mean it’s no longer love.”
-Ayobami Adebayo, Stay with Me
4.) “What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?”
-Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give
5.) “I have changed over time. That’s what people do. People aren’t stagnant. We evolve in reaction to our pleasures and our pains.”
-Taylor Jenkins Reid, One True Loves
6.) “That was when I realized, as terrifying and painful as reality can be, it’s also the only place where you can find true happiness. Because reality is real.”
-Ernest Cline, Ready Player One
7.) “It just goes to show you: every baby is born beautiful. It’s what we project on them that makes them ugly.”
-Jodi Picoult, Small Great Things
8.) “Work hard, know your shit, show your shit, and then feel entitled. Listen to no one except the two smartest and kindest adults you know, and that doesn’t always mean your parents. If you do that, you will be fine.“
-Mindy Kaling, Why Not Me?
9.) “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.“
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
10.) “You only get one life. It’s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.“
-Jojo Moyes, Me Before You
