You Lucky Dog – Book Review

Raise your hand if you’ve ever wished you could trade places with your dog.  If you’re not raising hands right now, I know you you’re lying (especially if your pup is anywhere near as spoiled as mine).  On a standard day, they get fed, have their bellies scratched, and go for nice leisurely strolls, get good treats (sometimes because they’re just being a good boy: AKA doing absolutely nothing but they’re just so darn cute!).  Seriously, what could be better than that?  We’ll wait…

That’s why I was so intrigued by Debra Finerman’s You Lucky Dog. The story starts with Jake attending his funeral, looking much more canine than ever.  As it turns out, after a car crash his soul merged with the body of his pup.  In all honest, I just adored this story.  While at times cheesy and over the top, it was just so heart-warming and witty, and the perfect quick and easy beach reach.  And the epilogue?  That had my heart so, so happy.  Who doesn’t love a good happily ever after?

My overall complaint comes with the territory of this being a quick and easy read: I really wish some of the story lines were more elaborate.  It felt like there were bits and pieces that seemed to be included but never truly felt like they were crucial to the plot line.  Even so, it still made a super fun read.

If you’re looking for a story that just makes you smile and feel so incredibly happy, You Lucky Dog is the book for you  Get your copy on Amazon (the last I checked, the Kindle version is only $2.99!)  Thank you so much to FSB Associates for providing me with a review copy!  It’s always my privilege to provide my honest thoughts and opinions.
